Joe Galope of Joe and Ron:
We were the Skip Team in the finals. Placing ourselves directly
in front of checkpoint #7 was a coincidence. We were told the
runners would be coming by New York, NY, so we positioned ourselves
on the sidewalk there. Team Fluffy Bunnies experience of running
right past us was consistent with all of the teams with the exception
of the Beards (The eventual winners). We stood there being almost
rude in our attempt to hand out flyers. And we only tried to hand
them out to teams and their crews. It was definitely the most
comical experience of the weekend for us. Had it not been for
the crews of some of the top teams they wouldn't have found us
short of us smacking them in the head with a baseball bat. Granted
it was dark, crowded and they were tired. This is why I pleased
to hear that that the Beards from Austin won. They spotted us
before we spotted them. I was very impressed. 6 of the 7 teams
eventually found us. We never saw the Blues Brothers.

Was handing out flyers your idea? That's brilliant. What a great
way to be conspicuous and blend at the same time on the strip.
Terrence Lee (Team Oozing Monkeys):
Great job guys! It was hilarious that you guys were doing
that. I ran right by you. Fortunately, my wife happened to stop
right in front of you, because the DC team crossed the street
and she wanted to see what they were up to! If not for the gals
accompanying you whispering "skip-man, skip-man", she would have
started up running again and missed you completely.
David Olds (Team Fluffy Bunny):
The skip guys were at NY/NY which was the site of checkpoint 7,
and they did a great job keeping a low profile by pretending to
be those guys handing out leaflets. I ran by them three times
before I saw them. I was looking for the checkpoint, but they
pretty much grabbed me, and I still ran past them.
