(Our thanks to the Skip Woman!)

1 In "On the Waterfront," just before Marlon Brando's Terry character laments, "I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender," he complains to Charlie, "He gets the title shot outdoors on the ballpark, and what do I get? A one-way ticket to ..." Find out where and you will have a good idea of the location of Checkpoint 1. Any signage will do.
  (Palookaville)
2 Engraved on a bench in downtown Portland is the name of this English writer, born in East Dereham, Norfolk. Early in his career he led a nomadic life, traveling, frequently on foot, throughout England. He described many of his adventures in "Lavengro." Find the bench because it's Checkpoint 2.
  (Barrow Bench)
3 Within one-half mile of the Portland Art Museum, Thomas ______________ is honored as a collector of stories and teller of tales. Find his five-point spot of honor because it's Checkpoint 3.
  (Thomas Vaughn)
4 Sorry, but we had to include a cow. This one is by artist Angela Passalacqua. Get a picture with the bovine. Forgive us, again.
  (Angela Passalacqua Cow)
5 Checkpoint 5 is the black head medallion near Ankeny Square.
  (Black Head Monument)
6 A big green cleat along the Willamette River is Checkpoint 8. Which one you say? Our favorite is the one with a white number on it that is the solution to this Portland math problem:
Jack Ramsay minus
Scottie Pippen plus
Clyde Drexler minus
Steve Kerr plus
Derek Anderson

  (Cleat #42)
7 Checkpoint 7 shares its name with the first two words of the title of this 1965 film starring Bette Davis. Any signage will serve as Checkpoint 7.
  (Hush Hush)
8 Born in 1924, this consummate storyteller and friend of Persians is paid tribute in the South Blocks. Find the tribute because it's Checkpoint 8.
  (T. O'Donnell)
9 Located within a quarter mile of Portland's living room, this artwork shares its name, but not its spelling, with the bone in the ankle that connects with the lower leg bones to form the ankle joint. Get your photo with it in the background cuz it is Checkpoint 9.
  (Talus Statue)
10 Checkpoint 10 is the intersection of the following trails:
Trail 1: Shares its name with a common name for a genus of fast-growing small trees, shrubs, and herbs (plants with soft, green, non-woody stems). Some actually have made wine from these.
Trail 2: Shares its name with a natural uncultivated woodland.

  (Wildwod/Elderberry)
11 Locate the Marquam Trail. Travel it until you find the rock commemorating the planting of 2 million trees by local boy scouts and cub scouts. Take your photo with the rock cuz it's checkpoint 11.
  (Boy Scout Plaque)
