Seattle Checkpoints

(Our thanks to the Skip Woman!)

1 Located near Puget Sound, checkpoint 1 is a statue dedicated in 1998 to honor John R. DiJulio for his contributions to the Italian Community and the City of Seattle, but the statue memorializes an even more well-known Italian gentleman.
  (Christopher Columbus statue)
2 Checkpoint 2 is a painful place located in Pioneer Square and shares its name, but not its spelling, with a mythical bird.
  (Fenix Tattoo)
3 How about a shot of a waterfall in a park for Checkpoint 3? Good idea, yes.
  (Waterfall Park)
4 This birthday gift to the United States in 1976 is located within 1/2 mile of 6th Avenue South and Main Street. It is Checkpoint 4.
  (Stone Lantern)
5 A really cool statue of what looks to be three women and two men doing what a lot of you are doing today is located within 1/2 mile of Western and Broad Street. Find it because it's Checkpoint 5.
  (Five Runners Statue)
6 This 1897 wooden schooner survived until today, we're told, because it spent a number of years in service as a fishing boat salting cod in the hold. Make sure the schooner is in the picture for Checkpoint 6.
  (Wowona Schooner)
7 Checkpoint 7 is located along Eastlake Avenue at Shear Draft. Get your photo with Shear Draft.
  (Shear Draft Sculpture)
8 This former Olympian and graduate of Seattle's Shorecrest High School is honored in downtown Seattle. Get your photo at the spot of honor.

9 60's Flashback Moment:
The name of this internet café is composed of two words:
The first word figured prominently in the title of two 60's tv series, one of which starred Stephanie Powers and the other, Robert Vaughn.
The second word is also the first name of the actress who cast a spell on many a teenage boy during the same period. Any signage will serve as Checkpoint 9.

  (Uncle Elizabeth's Internet Cafe)
10 Checkpoint 10 is a structure that shares its name with a famous American who was born in Kentucky and spent time as a store clerk and a postal worker. Any signage on the structure will serve as Checkpoint 10.
  (Abraham Lincoln Building)
11 Checkpoint 11 is named for two ladies who shave other people for money and is located within 300 yards of Rachel the Pig.
  (Trudy & Lenora's Barber Shop)
12 The "home" stretch: Get your photo with another faux pig (not Rachel) that is located within a stone's throw of Safeco Field. And, please, no pictures of your sloppy brother-in-law.
