Near or far! Teams have a choice about Checkpoint 8. Checkpoint 8 is either:

  • Manlo’s mailbox within 1/4 mile of the plaque marking the end of the Kearney Trail (NEAR);
  • or
  • The knapsack-carrying statue of a pioneer at the top of the hill within 30 yards of the Fort Stockton historical marker (FAR).
